BHUBANESWAR: The government has decided to institute Rs. 1 crore corpus fund for welfare of ex-servicemen. This was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the 5th meeting of the State Sainik Board here on Monday. “The stipend being paid to families of soldiers who had taken part in the Second World War would be raised from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000,” he said. The government had also decided to appoint 1,652 ex-servicemen in newly created State Armed Police Battalion.
