EDCA wins title

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ernakulam District Cricket Association (EDCA) stunned State Bank of Trvancore by 28 runs to win the title in the G.V. Raja memorial all-Kerala cricket tournament at the Medical College ground here on Wednesday.

Left-arm medium pacer Manu turned out to be the hero for the Ernakulam side. The opening bowler grabbed four quick wickets to rock the strong SBT batting line-up, which failed to chase a modest target of 172 off 45 overs. Earlier Ranji Trophy player Abhishek Hegde scored a half-century as EDCA was dismissed for 171 in 38.3 overs.

The scores: EDCA 171 in 38.3 overs (Abhishek Hegde 51) bt SBT 143 in 38.4 overs (Manu four for 11).
