HYDERABAD: Government has accepted another 18 recommendations of the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee on land distribution to the poor. With this, the number of recommendations accepted, out of the 104 made by the Committee, reached 92. The decision accepting the 18 recommendations afresh was taken by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at a meeting here on Friday to review the land issues in the light of the Left parties intensifying their land struggle. Speaking to reporters later Revenue Minister, Dharmana Prasada Rao the remaining recommendations were insignificant and unconnected with any of the demands raised by the Left parties. The Minister said the meeting had also decided to promulgate an ordinance in line with the newly-accepted recommendations to amend existing laws and regularise the occupation of assigned lands . Mr. Rao ruled out the possibility of constituting a land commission as demanded by the Left parties, saying it was not found in any of the committee’s recommendations.
