MACHILIPATNAM: Minister for Fisheries, Dairy and Animal Husbandry Mandali Buddha Prasad laid the foundation stone for a ‘Matsya Bhavan’ on the premises of the Krishna district Collector’s office here on Saturday. The building would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 70 lakhs. The Minister pointed out that Rs. 24 crores had been sanctioned in the Chief Minister’s special package for the construction of such buildings at Machilipatnam, Khammam, Nirmal, Kadapa, Chittoor and Guntur. The total allocation for the welfare of the Fisheries Department was Rs. 48 crores, but the Congress Government would be spending Rs. 103 crores. Funds had been earmarked for the construction of fishermen community along the coast.
