BJP seeks white paper on terrorism

HYDERABAD: State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded a white paper on terrorist activities, particularly in Telanagana and the Hyderabad city.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, he wanted the Government to furnish details of terrorist outfits in the State and the list of victims of their activities. He expressed surprise over Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s claim that situation in the city was normal, whereas the fact was that people were hesitant to leave their homes. The BJP leader pointed out that efficiency of the City Police in meeting any situation was well-known, but political interference was proving a hindrance in their functioning. He wanted the Government to install at its cost metal detectors at places like Lumbini Park, where suspected terrorists had planted a bomb. Mr. Dattatreya alleged intelligence failure for the twin blasts and faulted officials for misleading the Chief Minister so as to conceal the failure. He demanded implementation of the recommendations made by C. Anjaneya Reddy to counter terrorism.
