TTD to set up modern blood bank

TIRUMALA: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management has resolved to set up a highly modernised blood bank on its own at Tirupati. The decision was taken at the monthly meeting of the board of trustees here on Wednesday.

TTD Chairman B. Karunakar Reddy said that the blood bank would be designed on par with international standards.

The board also resolved to supply schoolbooks free of cost to all girl students living below the poverty line. According to available statistics of the 175000 girl students studying about 88000 students hail from the below poverty line.

The supply of schoolbooks would be a regular feature.

Efforts were on to ensure books to identified students from this academic year itself. Students belonging to poorer sections and deprived of any kind of scholarships would also be eligible to get books.

Temples construction

The board approved the proposal to construct a ‘dhyana mandiram’ and a temple of Lord Venkateswara in the site available at the Udhyana Marg in New Delhi. The cost of the project had been put at Rs. 8 to Rs.9 crore.

The board also gave consent for construction of a kalyana mandapam and a temple of the lord at the two-acre vacant site provided by the Sikkim Government at Gangtok. It decided to renovate the ‘Sri Vari Mettu’ footpath leading from Chandragiri to Tirumala.

It also decided to construct a mini-rest house and ‘padala mandapam’ for trekking pilgrims besides providing overhead roof all along the path.

A two day national-level seminar on ‘All-India Students Conference on Science and Spirituality’ would be held at Tirupati on December 22 and 23.

Which shall be attended among others by two nobel laureates and above 250 professors including those belonging to various IITs and Vice- chancellors of various universities in the country.

Earlier, Mr. Reddy inaugurated the Sri Vari Seva Sadan at APSRTC bus stand premises .
