CPI (M) urges State to scrap GO 638

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State committee has urged the Government to scrap GO 638 issued by Municipal Administration Department as part of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission as it will adversely affect poor who are seeking houses and house sites in urban areas.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu said the order provides for allotment of houses to poor who were living on land or houses that were encroached. This would deny opportunity to homeless poor in major urban centres like Vijayawada and Vizag living in rented houses to get their due.
