Teachers’ Day as ‘Demands Day’

NEW DELHI: The All-India Federation of University & College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO) will observe Teachers’ Day on Wednesday as ‘Demands Day’ to press for speedy implementation of their long-pending demands. Demonstrations will be staged on university campuses across the country. The demands include institution of a pay review committee, uniform pay scales and service conditions for academic staff, allocation of six per cent of the Gross Domestic Product to education, and filling of all vacancies in universities and colleges.
