Two killed in Maoist attack in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: Maoists gunned down two persons of Digha village in Jharkhand for defying their diktat to boycott the recent Jamshedpur Lok Sabha by-poll.

In a guerrilla-like operation on Thursday night, about 70 Maoists surrounded the village in East Singhbhum district and opened fire after planting landmines to stop police from reaching the scene, police said here on Friday.

Digha falls in the Maoist-infested Ghatsila sub-division, where former Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto was gunned down by the ultra-Leftists earlier this year.
