Man dies of gunshot wound at Keshava Rao’s son’s flat

HYDERABAD: Real estate dealer Prasanth Reddy died after allegedly being shot from a close range in a flat rented by APCC president K. Keshava Rao’s son Venkat Rao at Prashasan Nagar in the Jubilee Hills area on Sunday afternoon.

Around 3.30 p.m, Mr. Reddy came to the flat in Valley View Enclave to meet Mr. Venkat Rao, who was his business partner. It is not immediately known what transpired in their meeting, but Prasanth Reddy, 32, died almost instantaneously after sustaining a bullet injury on his right temple.

Police were unable to confirm whether it was a case of homicide or suicide saying they needed to investigate further. The victim’s family members alleged that it was a clear case of murder, but Mr. Venkat Rao’s relatives had a different story to tell.

Mr. Venkat Rao’s family members, however, said that Prashant Reddy shot himself with the licensed weapon of the PCC chief’s son. They said he managed to lay his hands on the revolver while Venkat Rao and his wife Divya were preparing for lunch in an adjoining room. On hearing the sound of the revolver shot, the couple rushed to the living room where they found Reddy lying in a pool of blood.

Dr. Keshava Rao told reporters that the incident appeared a preliminary case of suicide, but “I am not going to interfere in the probe”.
