Two killed in aircraft crash

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: An Indian Air Force aircraft Kiran Mark-1, which was on a regular night sortie, crashed here on the city outskirts leaving Squadron Leader H.C. Bhagat (36) and Flight Cadet U.C. Saty (20) dead in the early hours of Tuesday.

Wreckage of the two-seater aircraft was found strewn around the vacant land belonging to Hakeempet Air Force station, some 20 kilometres from the city centre. Bodies of the squadron leader and the trainee pilot were charred beyond recognition.

“Only a DNA test on the charred flesh would help establish the identity of victims,” Cyberabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) E. Damodar told The Hindu after visiting the spot.
