NEW DELHI: The Parliamentary Forum of Other Backward Classes (OBC) Members of Parliament on Tuesday urged the government to have a separate ministry for OBCs and extend reservation to OBCs in the judiciary. These demands were raised by members of the Forum at a meeting convened here under the chairmanship of Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao. The Forum wants more funds allocated to OBCs and greater power for the National Commission for Backward Classes. Apathy
The Forum also urged the government to ensure that the ongoing case in the Supreme Court on extending reservation to OBCs in central educational institutions is not delayed because of apathy on its part. The Forum will also meet leaders of all political parties to build a consensus on the need for uplifting the lot of OBCs.
