Major Rajiv Swagruha plan for Medak district

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Limited’s biggest township with 5,000 dwellings will come up on 730 acres close to the proposed Indian Institute of Technology near Kandi village in Medak district.

The self-contained township planned on a stretch of land at Lakdaram, Yadnoor and Bythol is 5 km away from the proposed IIT and nearer to the district headquarters town, Sangareddy. Independent houses, duplex units, flats and row houses comprise the township. While an extent of 2,100 acres has been identified in Medak district, the empowered committee has already cleared 730 acres for the township, which has the prospect of growing fast as it is close to the State capital. “It will have a club house, shopping complex, school, park, playground, an amphitheatre, well-designed storm water drainage network and recharge pits located strategically. Solar heaters and solar street lighting and a two-metre green corridor along the periphery would be value additions,” said an official.

Mega townships will also come up on 300 acres in Khammam, 200 acres in Nellore, 156 acres in Tirupati, 100 acres each in Kadapa, Anantapur and Vizianagaram. Karimnagar may also get a mega township given the heavy demand for houses/flats. Under the first phase, 45,000 Rajiv Swagruha houses/flats would be constructed this year at a cost of Rs. 5,350 crore. “We expect to get about Rs. 1,400 crore from the 25 per cent down payment from the beneficiaries after the draw of lots is completed,” the official disclosed. Next year, 75,000 houses/flats would be constructed and in the third year another 55,000 units, to achieve the target of 1.74 lakh houses/flats. Finding it difficult to acquire Government land, the Rajiv Swagruha officials are contemplating revising the plans of constructing independent houses.
