Teachers’ day out

BANGALORE: Teachers of the Sri Vani Group of Institutions took time out to have some fun on the day meant for them. The Teachers’ Day celebrations held on their Magadi Road campus had group songs, group dance, solo dance and even a mimicry show — all presented by teachers. Addressing the teachers, K.S. Satyavathi, a professor of Sanskrit at Vidya Vardhaka Sangha First Grade College for Women, spoke on the duties and responsibilities of a teacher. She emphasised the need for teachers to be exemplary in all aspectsand told the teachers to be a role model for their students.

Emerging winners

The students of Florence Public School, R.T. Nagar, won the Prakrit Inter-school Chess Tournament. The team comprised Vinay D.J., Gowrish, Vijethatma H.V. and Avinash Hegde. They also won the Best Chess Team award at the tournament. These students had earlier proved their worth at the recently held Hosur Chess Tournament. Avinash Hegde won the third prize in under-16 category, while Vijethatma and Gowrish were placed third and fourth respectively in the under-14 category.

Vrishti 2007

It was a programme to celebrate the monsoon. Vrishti 2007 held at Venus International Public School, Rajajinagar, depicted the joy and happiness of the season. Attired in colourful dresses, children from the pre-primary classes presented various programmes.

First prize

Akash Agarwal, a student of Class V of Maruthi Vidya Kendra, Tumkur, has brought laurels to the school by winning the first prize in the third State-level Abacus Competition organised by Ideal Play Abacus ( India) Pvt. Ltd.
