WORLD TOURISM DAY SPECIAL: A view of the Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore from where a run will be flagged off.

BANGALORE: Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage through the ages will be showcased in the form of a dance ensemble on the World Tourism Day to be observed on September 27 in Bangalore. Promising to take the audience through the historical developments of the State under the dynasties that ruled the region during various periods, the dance ensemble will be a treat to watch.

The programme being organised by Tourism Department at Ambedkar Bhavan here will be performed by the artistes of Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography. The World Tourism Day will be held with the theme on Tourism Opens Doors for Women.

In a release, Tourism Director C. Somashekara said: “The department aims at showcasing these traces of history to enhance awareness about the dynasties that ruled here and also the destinations in the State.” Besides, a Tourism Run would be flagged off from the Vidhana Soudha. This would feature leading women entrepreneurs and artistes.

While students will be involved in cleaning up of popular tourist spots such as Cubbon Park, the K.L.E. College will conduct an inter-collegiate competition in essay writing and debate.

Mr. Somashekara said that schools and colleges across the State will also conduct essay writing, painting and other competitions for students based on the theme of women in tourism.
