Thulasi completes hat-trick


Prannoy won his maiden boys’ title

KOLLAM: Junior international P.C. Thulasi completed a hat-trick of triumphs in the Kerala State junior badminton championship at the Ashtamudi Boat Club here on Thursday evening.

The 16-year-old junior India No. 4 from Thrissur defeated Kozhikode’s Parvathy Suresh 21-15, 21-8 in the singles final. She had helped Thrissur to the girls’ team title earlier.

Thiruvananthapuram’s H.S. Prannoy bounced back from a first-game loss and won his maiden boys’ title.

The 15-year-old sub-junior India No. 3 defeated Kozhikode’s Ram C. Vijay, the junior doubles international, 13-21, 21-11, 21-15 in the final.

The results (finals): Boys singles: H.S. Prannoy (Tvm) bt Ram C. Vijay (Kzd) 13-21, 21-11, 21-15.

Girls: Singles: P.C. Thulasi (Tsr) bt Parvathy Suresh (Kzd) 21-15, 21-8; Doubles: P.C. Thulasi (Tsr) & Annie Cherian (Kzd) bt Megha Merin (Tsr) & Prija Chandran (Tvm) 21-15, 21-8.
