NALGONDA: Telangana Rastra Samiti, Telangana Vidyavantula Vedika and Telangana Rachayitala Vedika celebrated Telangana Liberation Day with a revolutionary zeal across the district on Monday. Vidyasagar Rao, irrigation expert, unfurled the tricolour near the martyrs’ memorial structure at the clock tower centre in Nalgonda. He called upon the people of the region to be inspired by the famous Telangana peasants’ armed struggle in the fight for a separate State for the backward region. TRS MLC K. Dilip Kumar and district party president B. Somi Reddy also took part in the programme. Venu Sankoju of Telangana Writers’ Forum said that Liberation Day celebrations were held in Aler, Bhongir, Devarakonda, Kodad, Mothkur, Nakrekal, Miryalaguda, Ramannapet and Suryapet in a befitting way. Telangana Kavitha-2006, a compilation of poems penned by 55 poets of the region, was released in ten centres in the district. Meanwhile, Lok Satta founder Jayaprakash Narayan felicitated four leaders who had taken part in the peasants’ struggle against the Nizam’s draconian rule, at a function held at the Government Boys’ High School in Suryapet. Mallu Swarajyam, Challa Sitaram Reddy, Bhimreddy Narasimha Reddy and Routu Rajeswar Rao were among the recipients. Flags hoistedKARIMNAGAR: The Congress, TRS and BJP district units celebrated the Telangana Liberation Day by hoisting tricolours separately in various parts of Karimnagar town on Monday. DCC president T. Santosh Kumar hoisted the national flag at the party office. Later, he also felicitated the freedom fighters on the occasion. Karimnagar market committee chairman Y. Sunil Rao and others were present. BJP town unit leaders hoisted the national flag at the busy Tower circle area in the town. BJP Kisan Morcha State president P. Sugunakar Rao hoisted the tricolour and demanded that the State Government celebrate the day as a State festival. Sangareddy: Telangana Rastra Samiti and Bharatiya Janata Party celebrated the Telangana Liberation Day in different parts of the district on Monday and hoisted National flag commemorating the day. In Siddipet, TRS ideologue Jayashankar laid foundation to the Telangana martyrs’ memorial at the Rangadhampalli crossroads. Legislators T. Harish Rao, Padma Devender Reddy, S. Ramalinga Reddy, Etela Rajender and Member of Legislative Council R. Satyanarayana and eminent writer Siddareddy and Desapathi Srinivasa Reddy participated in the foundation laying ceremony. Kin of the martyrs who laid their lives for a separate state during 1969 were felicitated. In the district headquarters, the BJP and its students wing hoisted the national flag near the new bus stand and offered respects to the martyrs.
