Coimbatore: Host Karunya University got the better of Loyola College (Chennai) 3-2, via tie-breaker, to clinch the football title in the 15th Karunya Evangeline South India-level tournament at the Karunya campus on Sunday. It was Karunya’s maiden title. Karunya’s Yesudas came up with a good effort in the 10th minute of the first half. The Chennai team fought back to level the score through striker Siva midway through the second session. In the tie-breaker, Karunya netted three to Loyola’s two. Madras Christian College (Chennai) defeated Pachaiyappa’s College (Chennai) 3-2, via tie-breaker, to take the third spot.
