AMCE, AVC clinch titles

TIRUCHI: Anjalaiammal Mahalingam College of Engineering (AMCE) and AVC College of Engineering won the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the Anna University inter-collegiate (zone VIII) table tennis tournament at MAM CE here on Monday.

The results:

Men: Final: Anjalaiammal Mahalingam CE bt AVC CE 3-0 (Muthumanickam bt Vijay 11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10; P. Vinoth bt S. Kavaskar 12-10, 11-3, 8-11, 11-7; Ganesh Prabhu bt Karthik 11-4, 11-7, 11-7).

Third place: Saranathan CE bt Jayaram CET 3-2 (R. Harikrishnan bt M. Arun Kumar 11-9, 11-8, 11-9; S. Aravind Subramanian bt D. Suresh 11-7, 11-3, 11-9; S. Vignesh lost to M. Hariharan 9-11, 8-11, 6-11; S. Aravind Subramanian lost to M. Arun Kumar 11-2, 6-11, 8-11, 9-11; R. Harikrishnan bt D. Suresh 8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5).

Women: Final: AVC CE bt Periyar Maniammai CTW 3-1 (R. Vanitha lost to S. Subashini 2-11, 7-11, 1-11; D. Susithra bt R. Ulaganayagi 11-2, 11-2, 11-3; J. Shobana bt P. Gowthami 11-7, 11-8, 11-5; D. Susithra bt S. Subashini 13-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9).

Third place: JJ CET bt Anjalaiammal Mahalingam CE 3-0 (J. Sophia Juliet Mary bt S. Sathya 11-4, 11-7, 11-7; R. Sukanya bt K. Usharani 14-16, 11-8, 11-7, 14-12; M. Charanya bt S. Diana 11-4, 11-6, 11-1).

Sriman and Ramanan scored three goals each as Jamal Mohammed College blanked National College 6-0 and entered the semifinals of the Bharathidasan University inter-collegiate (Tiruchi division) football tournament here on Monday.
