Srilaxmi in semifinals

HYDERABAD: P. Srilaxmi of Postal defeated M. Mrudula of Vijayawada 11-4, 11-1, 11-2, 11-9 in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Darga Pentappa memorial AP state-ranking table tennis tournament at Victory Playground here on Monday.

The results: Women: Quarterfinals: Nikhat Bhanu bt P. Chahana 11-5, 11-2, 11-7, 11-5; Prasanna Devi bt K.Harshitha 11-8, 12-14, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8; P. Srilaxmi bt M. Mrudula 11-4, 11-1, 11-2, 11-9.

Ramesh shines

Ramesh spell of six for 40 for Team Speed was the highlight in the match against Our’s XI in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship match which ended in a draw.

The scores: A-Division (two-day matches): Ours XI 91 (Ramesh six for 40, Sunil four for 14) drew with Team Speed 73 for six.

A-2 division (one day matches): Falaknuma 115 (Syed Imran Mashaik five for 35, Syed Ayub five for 30) bt St. Mary’s 108.

Schools league: Vijayanand 180 (Santosh 55, Imran 41, Shravan Kumar four for 41) drew with Vijay 172 for three (Rahul Singh 77 not out, P.S. Chaitanya Reddy 41). Rain stopped play.

Anirudh in final

Anirudh Shankar of Kukatpally defeated Anirudh Deshpande 21-12, 21-15 of Lal Bahadur Stadium in the boys’ under-10 semifinal of the GHMC Open badminton tournament here. In the other semifinal, Cyril Verma of Gachibowli Stadium outplayed M. Akash of Iriset 21-1, 21-1.

Hat-trick by Manibhushan

Manibhushan struck the first hat-trick of the tournament to fashion Accountant General (AP)’s 3-2 victory over State Bank of India in the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at Gymkhana Grounds here on Monday. For the loser, Hassan Ali and Anand were the scorers.

In another match, South Central Railway defeated Hyderabad Globe 2-1 with Jude and Nidhi being the scorers for the winner while Meka scored for the loser.

State-ranking TT

Anandnagar Welfare Association Sports Academy will organise the Anantha Narayan Reddy and M. Rameshwaramma memorial state-ranking table tennis tournament from September 30 to October 2 at its premises in Khairatabad. For details, call 9246548770.
