Anand misses win

NEW DELHI: Viswanathan Anand failed to convert a winning position into an important victory over Russia’s Alexander Morozevich in the fourth round of the World chess championship in Mexico City on Sunday.

The Queen’s Gambit game looked like resulting in Anand’s second successive win with the black pieces but ended in a 61-move draw with the Indian choosing to repeat moves.

With Vladimir Kramnik also managing a draw against fellow Russian Alexander Grischuk, the leading positions remained unchanged. Monday is a day of rest.
