Woman found murdered

NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old estranged woman was found murdered on Pandav Road here on Thursday.

The defaced body of Kanchan Arora wrapped in a blanket was found abandoned near a public convenience in Farsh Bazar in the morning. It bore injury marks on the forehead and other parts of the body, the police said.

According to the police, Kanchan, a resident of Bholanath Nagar, had a long-standing property dispute with her husband Mahender Arora. It led to frequent altercation between the couple and the two had been living separately for the past two years, a neighbour said.

Kanchan was living on the ground floor of the house and had rented out the first floor, while her husband, who works in a garment shop in Chandni Chowk, stayed in the Walled City area. Mahender had admitted their teenaged daughter Anjali to a boarding school in Agra last year after the two had separated.

Kanchan’s neighbours claimed that she had lodged a complaint a few days ago accusing Mahender of kidnapping their daughter and expressing fear for her life, but the police did not take any action. The police, however, denied having received any such complaint.
