Rs. 228 crore allotted for eradicating child labour

Mahabubnagar: To eradicate child labour in the country the Centre has allotted Rs.228 crore under 11th plan, according to Jyothi Setiya, vice-chairperson, Central Advisory Board on child labour.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday evening she informed that the Government has also enhanced the nutrition charges from Rs.5 to 7 per day per student. For school bags and uniform Rs.500 and Rs.3,000 to meet medical expenditure per annum. She also informed that Rs.5,000 was sanctioned for sports besides Rs.4,000 to meet contingency expenditure. She observed that due to poverty and lack of awareness child labour was still continuing. She asked the educated to focus on eradicating child labour.
