Two more lynched in Bihar

Special Correspondent

PATNA: Two alleged street robbers were caught and lynched by residents of Nutan Colony under the Sultanganj police station here on Friday night.

A late-night commuter called out for help when three persons waylaid him at gunpoint. The residents came out and gave them a chase. Finding himself cornered, one of them jumped into a well.

The mob first stoned him, then pulled him out, and battered him to death. Though it was believed that the other two had escaped, the body of one of them was recovered in the morning.

Minor girls assaulted

In another incident in Bhagalpur district, two minor girls were assaulted by their neighbours in Kulkuliya village under the Ghogha police station. The police failed to register a case despite visiting the affected family.

The officer-in-charge has been suspended and departmental proceedings initiated against him for not taking action till the media took up the issue.
