Two drowned

ALAPPUZHA: Two persons drowned while crossing a waterlogged ‘puncha’ paddy field after the fibre boat they were travelling in capsized at Nooranad near here this morning. The drowned persons were identified as Manoharan, 55 and Raghavan, 70, while the third person, Antony, owner of the boat, swam to safety. All three were residents of Nooranad. Fire Force personnel had to search for more than three hours to trace and retrieve the bodies.
