Proposal for compensation to the tune of Rs 41 lakhs sent to

government


VIZIANAGARAM: Crops in an extent of 63.04 acres -- zirayati 17.30 acres, D-patta 14.24 acres and podu 31.50 acres --- were damaged due to movement of wild elephants in G.L.Puram mandal, according to B. Satyanarayana, Parvathipuram Revenue Divisional Officer.

He said that proposal for compensation to the tune of Rs. 4.31 lakhs for crops in zirayati, Rs. 52,700 in D-patta and Rs 2,400 for crops in podu was sent to the government. No representation demanding compensation from Kurupam mandal was received.

He said proposals for additional ex-gratia to the kin of four tribals who were killed by the wild elephants were also sent, he added.
