BANGALORE: Work was affected in two leading IT companies, Microsoft and IBM, in the Airport police station limits in the city on Tuesday following a bomb scare. Employees of the two firms went through some anxious moments as they were made to vacate their offices, to help the police conduct sabotage checks. Microsoft and IBM have their offices in the same commercial complex situated on Koramangala Ring Road (Domlur-Koramangala Road), the police said. Around 10 a.m., receptionists of the two companies received anonymous telephone calls that bombs have been planted in their offices. On being alerted, the Airport police, along with staff from the Bomb Detection Squad and sniffer dog squad, searched the commercial complex, which houses several other IT companies. The searches did not reveal any explosives. The two calls were made from different numbers, the police said. The Airport police have registered a case. ArrestedThe Girinagar police have arrested six youths with criminal antecedents who had allegedly murdered a rival gangster, Venkatesh alias Venki, and attempted to kill his accomplice K.G. Ravi at Hosakerehalli on September 15. The police gave the names of the arrested as Raghu (23) of Cox Town, Uttam alias Umesh (20) of Kempegowdanagar, Krishna (21) of Srinagar, Sandeep (24) of R.K. Math Layout, Anwar (22) of Rajagopal Garden and Chandrashekar (24) of Chamarajpet. The police said Venkatesh had earlier murdered Raghu’s brothers, Thimmaraju and Suresh. In retaliation, Raghu had killed Venkatesh with the help of his accomplices, the police said. Four killedFour persons, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Monday. Sandesh (18) died after a truck hit his motorcycle near CMTI junction on Tumkur Road around 7.15 p.m. The police said Sandesh was a resident of 5th Phase, Yelahanka New Town. The Yeshwanthapur traffic police have registered a case. Tauseef Ahmed (12) of Haleguddadahalli was killed when a KSRTC bus knocked down the motorcycle he was riding pillion. The accident occurred around 4.45 p.m. on Guddadahalli Main Road, off Mysore Road, the police said. The Byatarayanapura traffic police have registered a case. Bikkamma (50) was killed when a private bus in which she was travelling rammed an electric pole at Kasturinagar junction on Old Madras Road around 7.30 p.m. The K.R. Puram traffic police have registered a case. An unidentified pedestrian, aged about 20 years, died on the spot after a private bus knocked him down near Rajiv Gandhi Circle in Seshadripuram around 9.45 p.m. The High Grounds traffic police have registered a case. Two injuredTwo women were injured after a goods vehicle hit their scooter at Kothnur Dinne, off J.P. Nagar, on Tuesday morning. The rider Jyothi (35) and another person who was riding pillion have been hospitalised and are out of danger, the police said. Following the accident, the public hurled stones at the vehicle and smashed its glass panes. HeldThe J.P. Nagar police have arrested five people who had allegedly hacked to death Sridhar (28), a call centre cab driver, at Jaraganahalli on Monday. Investigations have revealed that Sridhar was killed over a love affair, the police said. The arrested were identified as Chetan (23), Shivakumar (23), Santosh (19), Manjunath (23) and Venkatesh (18).
