BJP to discuss situation in Tamil Nadu

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh has called an emergency meeting of party office-bearers here for Thursday to discuss the Tamil Nadu situation.

Senior leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said here on Tuesday: “Our party offices, even at the district level, have been attacked in Tamil Nadu over the last few days. We have called a meeting to discuss this serious situation.”

Privately, senior BJP leaders said that in all probability a BJP-All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance would be stitched up well before the next general election.

They pointed out that politically Tamil Nadu of 2007 was not the State of the 1960s.

“Few takers”

Referring to the comments of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders on the Ramar Sethu, they said there would be few takers today for the anti-religion and anti-Ram sentiments expressed by the DMK leadership. Also, the Aryan versus Dravidian card would not work.
