140 bags of rice seized

Hosur: The police have seized 140 bags of rice worth Rs. 1 lakh meant for supply under the public distribution system, which was being smuggled in a lorry at Devanthotti, near here on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off a team was conducting vehicle checks at Devanthotti when they intercepted a lorry and seized the rice bags.

The lorry was on its way to to Bangarapet. Rajasekharan, lorry owner, and Sivaraman, cleaner, were arrested in this regard.
