ELURU: D. Somasundar, president of APUWJ, on Friday apprehended that the broadcasting regulatory authority bill pending approval in Parliament would negate the underlying spirit of the freedom of expression guaranteed by the Constitution. Addressing a gathering of mofussil journalists here, he pointed out that the bill had proposed to penalise lenseman, reporter, anchor and even broadcaster, besides closure of the ‘erring’ channel in case of telecasting a report considered defamatory. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
