Assault on plumber: search on for councillor

TIRUNELVELI: The Perumalpuram police have registered a case against councillor of Tirunelveli Corporation for allegedly assaulting a plumber of the civic body.

Police said the councillor of ward 26, Pandi Kumar, picked-up a quarrel with G. Murugan alais Kanagaraj, a plumber attached to the Corporation’s Palayamkottai Zone office, after the latter reportedly did not release water to a particular area.

When the argument intensified, Pandi Kumar, allegedly assaulted Murugan. He was treated as an outpatient in the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. The police are on the look out for Pandi Kumar.

Meanwhile, the corporation workers staged a demonstration demanding the immediate arrest of Pandi Kumar.
