Army foils infiltration attempt, Pakistani killed

Srinagar: The Army foiled an infiltration attempt when they shot dead a Pakistani militant near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday morning, a defence spokesman said.

The troops observed that some militants were trying to sneak into the country in the Trehgam sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and challenged them, the spokesman said.

He said the militants opened fire and in the ensuing gunfight one of the infiltrating militants was shot dead, while his other associates fled. The Army launched an operation to track down the militants, the spokesman said. — PTI
