CHENNAI: The All India Democratic Women’s Association has decided to organise a campaign on issues concerning the public distribution system (PDS). The quality of rice supplied through the PDS and smuggling of rice are among the issues to be taken up by the association on the occasion of the Elimination of Poverty Day on October 17, according to a release issued by the AIDWA. In November, members of the association would give petitions to the District Collectors and trade unions demanding the constitution of panels on sexual harassment of women at workplace. Events would also be held to seek effective implementation of the law on domestic violence. The decisions were taken by the AIDWA’s State executive at its meeting in Erode on September 25 and 26. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
