General J. J. Singh New Delhi: Army Chief J. J. Singh was on Saturday elected unopposed as the president of the Capital’s elite Gymkhana Club after the contender from the Air Force decided to withdraw from the contest following a compromise. Gen. Singh will take over as the president of the club on Sunday, former RA&W chief and club president A S Dulat told PTI. The run up to the election saw a high-voltage campaign by the camps of Gen. Singh and Western Air Commander Air Marshal P S Alhuwaliah, who decided to withdraw from contest on the last minute following a compromise. According to the compromise arrived at between both the camps, Gymkhana sources said, Gen Singh and Air Marshal Alhuwaliah had agreed to share the President post for one year each.
