Control onion price

Onion prices are bringing tears to people who are already facing the brunt of soaring prices of other essential commodities.

Onion is being sold at Rs. 18 to Rs. 20 a kg. Though civil supplies officials claim that arrangements have been made for sale of onion at rythu bazaars and ration shops at a reasonable price, the ground reality is different.

The government is supplying a kg of onion at Rs. 7 to ration card holders only in urban areas.

But in rural areas, the poor people are forced to purchase vegetables in the open market. The government should look into this aspect.

Burden on children

The Central and State governments, except boasting about improvement and progress, have failed to address even a single problem in the recent past.

For instance, the government could not give any relief to the children who are forced to carry heavy load of school bags. The errant school managements continue to force children to bring all the books. Will the governments open their eyes at least now? Why parents and students’ associations are silent?

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has hijacked three main programmes launched by other political parties and decided to incorporate in its next election manifesto.

TDP leaders promptly grabbed the opportunity to join the agitation against belt shops launched by the Lok Satta. The TDP also joined the land struggle kickstarted by the Left parties. It now promises free power to woo farmers. The TDP should notice that people are watching.

Bathrooms slippery

The bathrooms near Kalyanakatta on the hills of Tirumala are slippery. Several devotees offering hair to the Lord of Seven Hills slip in the bathrooms while taking bath.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) should take the necessary steps to ensure that the bathrooms are maintained properly. If devotees fall and sustain injuries, it would have sentimental effect on their minds.
