Violence is spreading in the land of Mahatma Gandhi, most of which is senseless. The society that the younger generation discover for themselves is ruled by a merciless law, money power. Misguided young people as a fashion take to anti-social activities, an extreme form of which is crime.

Crime is a shadow cast by the neo rich class and, as such, it is inseparable from the society.

The cause of crime is to be found within the very structure of social relations which dominate the society, in the inequality, the exploitation of poor masses.

Crime is rooted not only in unemployment, it stems from the general crisis of morals, from the preaching of violence, individualism, and the out of profit.

Too many young people are falling into despair.

This is serious for the nation and for the future.

Let us strive to understand the social problem in their right perspective and search for remedial measures.

Conjunctivitis rampant

Many parts of the State especially Rayalaseema, the epidemic of conjunctivitis is virulent.

The people are suffering silently while the Health authorities are in their sweet slumber.

The private hospitals, clinics and nursing homes are making fast buck and sometime charging exorbitant fee.

It is time that the Health authorities in the State with the help of non-Governmental organisations must swing into action.

Health authorities should immediately address to the problem and schools in villages should focus on handling epidemics.

Streamline sewage

The recent record rainfall that Guntakal exposed the vulnerability of the town to the resultant flash floods. The absence of a functional drainage system, is conspicuous by its absence in the town. The indiscriminate deposit of rubbish all along the drainage and the failure to clean the same periodically is affecting the present drainage system. Floodwaters entered almost all the houses in the town and in railway colonies.

Generally, with a record of sparse rainfall, Guntakal has never been in threat of floods.
