TDP’s pro-Telangana stance questioned

Staff Reporter

Sangareddy: Taking serious note of the recent propaganda by Medak Telugu Desam president Mainampalli Hanmantha Rao that his party never objected to formation of separate Telangana, Member of Legislative Council R. Satyanarayana (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) on Sunday asked the TDP to make any Telangana leader as party president or Chief Minister of Telangana.

“Will Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu apologise to the people of Telangana for the negative stance he has taken so far and correct it by making Devender Goud or Kadiam Srihari as the Chief Minister?” he asked.

In contrast TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced that a Dalit would be first Chief Minister of separate Telangana and a Muslim as deputy Chief Minister, he said.

Criticising the TDP leadership for projecting a pro-Telangana face during the ‘Palle Palle ki TDP’ programme, Mr. Satyanarayana wanted to know whether the party Polit Bureau had directed leaders to announce its decision or was it an ‘effort’ to confuse voters.

He wanted the TDP to withdraw its earlier declaration to the Cabinet sub-committee and freshly issue another one supporting the cause of Telangana.

The MLC pointed out that TDP had earlier delayed implementation of 610 GO, sold valuable Telangana assets like Wakf land and sugar mills and supported Pulichintala and Polavaram projects.
