Court directive to PCB Member-Secretary

Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan on Monday indicated that the Member-Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board be present in the court on Thursday to assist the court in the issue of pollution of Racheruvu on the outskirts of Hyderabad .

The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed complaining about the pollution and the inaction of the PCB. The Bench found that the report of the advocate commissioner and the report of the environment engineer did not tally and wanted to know what action the PCB initiated against the concerned officer who did not place correct facts before the court.

Critical analysis

During the course of the arguments the Bench felt that the methodology adopted by the pollution control board in dealing with polluting units needs to be critically analysed and asked for the presence of the Member-Secretary to assist the court.
