“Left may end support after IAEA meet”

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: The former Lok Sabha Speaker, P.A. Sangma, on Tuesday said the Left parties are likely to withdraw support to the United Progressive Alliance government shortly after India attends the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting.

“No possibility”

“There is hardly any possibility of the Left continuing its support to the UPA for long. Both Congress and CPI (M) have adopted an extremist stance on the nuclear deal with the U.S.,” Mr. Sangma, who was here to attend a convention of Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikas Parishad, told reporters.

The Nationalist Congress Party general secretary said a mid-term election would depend largely on the Congress. “It remains to be seen if the Congress would try to run a minority government after the withdrawal of outside support or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would himself tender his resignation,” he said.
