Stress laid on need for better facilities

At Tirupattur, Vaniyambadi and Ambur hospitals

TIRUPATTUR: Tirupattur Sub-division Sub-Collector Ashish Kumar has stressed the need to provide additional facilities at the Government Hospitals in Tirupattur, Vaniyambadi and Ambur. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting attended by the Medical Officers and respective municipal chairmen held here on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Kumar said the general hospitals at Tirupattur, Vaniyambadi and Ambur had their own Patient Welfare Society. The State Government had already allotted Rs.one lakh each to the three societies to provide better infrastructure facilities. For the first time, it had been decided to maintain a reserve fund solely to meet the transport expenses of poor patients to these hospitals.

He said that at the meeting it had been decided that each of the three hospitals would be spending anywhere between Rs.70, 000 to Rs.90, 000 to provide basic facilities. Adequate emphasis would be given to improve sanitation at these hospitals. All steps would also be taken to augment the drinking water supply with equal importance given for electrical maintenance and providing air-conditioner facilities in all the blood banks attached to these hospitals.

Mr. Kumar said he had instructed to procure extra chairs for the waiting patients. Under the drinking water scheme, it had been decided to install 2 reverse osmosis plants each in all these three hospitals. Further, all municipal chairmen have assured that they would deploy adequate staff for cleaning of the hospitals once in two weeks.

Mr. Kumar said that he had also instructed the Medical Officers to install additional fans and lights in all the wards.

The Sub-Collector further said it was decided that the Medical Officers would be approaching philanthropists for donation. The donations could be sent either to the respective Medical Officers or directly to the Sub-Collector.
