CPI plans protests

CHENNAI: The State unit of the Communist Party of India will organise demonstrations in district and taluk head quarters in the State on October 10 demanding Government action to contain “increase in prices of essential articles.” In a statement here on Wednesday, party secretary D. Pandian said Government should procure food grains directly from farmers, streamline the public distribution system and implement the Essential Commodities Act strictly.
