Congress monitoring developments

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Saturday said it would wait for the Bharatiya Janata Party to formally withdraw support to the H.D. Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka. The party would then seek immediate trial of strength on the floor of the Assembly to prevent horse-trading.

“We are watching the developments,” said Congress general secretary in charge of Karnataka Prithviraj Chavan.

The party has kept all its options open, including the possibility of President’s rule

Mr. Chavan later briefed Congress president Sonia Gandhi about the developments in the State. Ms. Gandhi, who has been abroad, returned early on Saturday. Mr. Chavan is likely to visit the State in the next two days.
