It is very unfortunate that our Telugu film producers do not maintain minimum moral values while scripting and naming cinema titles. They seem to target innocent youth for their financial means. Titles of the recently released films, ‘Tenth Class’, ‘Tenth Lo Premalo Padithe’ and several other such titles are a pointer to the state of affairs in the film industry. Their aim appears only to make money by luring the youth with such irrelevant titles. This is a cause of concern as cinema is considered to be a powerful medium. Even though parents and teachers strive their best to make schoolchildren better citizens, many feature films, pollute the sacred educational environment. It is high time the State Government stipulates stringent norms for film producers. G. Jagannadh, Anantapur Poor staff strengthNandyal is a bourgeoning town with huge population and business potential. The main branch of the State Bank of India caters to the growing needs of the town. Though a Bazaar branch is nearby, people prefer this branch as it is centrally located. However the functioning of the branch is far from satisfactory. It is pitiable to see senior citizens, women and pensioners spend hours together to get their work done. This is in spite of the fact that many customers use ATMs. The counter that updates balance of accounts is manned by untrained staff, leading to blunders being printed. Will the higher authorities rectify the situation and post sufficient staff. M. Onnuriah Chetty, Nandyal Welcome gestureThis has reference to the news story, ‘MNC donates Rs. 2.27 cr for education of poor children’, The Hindu, September 20. Proctor & Gamble deserves compliments for supporting education of under privileged children across the country as well as the State, which was collected from the sale of their consumer products and the amount is a part of the total turnover which was not included into their profits or expenditure. Indeed a very noble gesture on the part of the MNC as it is in the mutual benefit of the company as well as to the people. The consumers too deserve praise for coming forward t purchased the items of P&G, which has creacted a fund for the social purposes out of the sale of these products. Let us hope that every MNC and other major companies come forward and follow this method. J.P. Reddy Nalgonda © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
