WARANGAL: People should reject politicians who were treating the politics as business enterprise and be cautious against the false promises being showered by them, said Lok Satta State secretary D.V.V.S. Varma and district convenor Parcha Kodanda Rama Rao. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the Lok Satta leaders said the political parties were bankrupt and were eager to grab the power at any cost. “Going by the promises being made by the Congress and TDP, they appear to be least bothered about the public welfare. They are talking of temporary measures rather than solving important issues such as health, education and agriculture,” they said. The political parties were only concerned about how to get back to power. None of the leaders were talking about the rampant corruption, unemployment and crisis looming large over the agricultural sector. The Lok Satta leaders contended that their party was in favour of long term measures for the problems facing the poor. Mr. Varma and Mr. Kodanda Rama Rao said their party was ready for a public debate with other political parties on corruption. They also wanted the parties to come out clear how they would implement the promises that are being made aiming at the mid-term elections in the State. The Lok Satta party proposes to strengthen the organisation by arranging for training to its cadre at every level and constitute party committees at village and Assembly Constituency level. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
