CHENNAI: Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veerasamy on Monday chaired a review meeting of Kilpauk Medical College, and discussed with Health Department officials the feasibility of a further expansion of the college. The Minister undertook the exercise since the Kilpauk Medical College was located in his Assembly constituency. After holding discussions with officials of the State Fisheries and Revenue Departments, who were also present at the meeting, Mr. Veerasamy said the Government would make efforts to secure 40 grounds of land under the custody of the Fisheries Department to help facilitate expansion of the college. Additional space was also required to handle the increasing flow of daily outpatients, numbering over 4,000, and the 2,000 in-patients. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
