KIMS sets up unit for thrombolysis

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: The KIMS hospital has started a specialised thrombolysis (therapy to dissolve blocks in major arteries using medicines) unit. According to studies, over 50,000 people die in Kerala annually due to heart attacks or strokes.

This is often because people seldom reach hospitals within the ‘golden hour,’ when thrombolytic therapy can be used to dissolve the clots in arteries, thus restoring blood supply.

KIMS is now providing free ambulance service within the city limits to help people in the event of chest pain.

The service can be reached at the phone no. 24485856.
