Milch cattle units for poor sanctioned

VIZIANAGARAM: Some 4,000 milch cattle units, 100 calf-rearing units and 75 fodder cutting equipment at 50 per cent subsidy to BPL families and SC/ST farmers in the district have been sanctioned for 2007-08, according to Joint Director (Animal Husbandry) K. Krishna Murty.

The cost of each milch cattle unit is Rs. 27,000, calf-rearing unit Rs. 20,000 and fodder cutting is Rs. 16,000. Apart from 50 per cent government subsidy, banks will finance the balance, Mr. Krishna Murty has said.
