GO 610: MLC faults State on teachers’ salary payment

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: Gade Srinivasulu Naidu, MLC, has said there is no clarity on payment of salaries to the teachers repatriated to other districts as per the GO 610.

Talking to reporters at the Collectorate on Friday, Mr. Naidu said the government had earlier decided to draw salaries of the repatriated teachers at their original place of posting and send DDs to their present place of posting. Now, the government reportedly issued a GO 683 allowing teachers to receive salaries at the place of posting itself. He asked the government to clear the confusion.

On seniority of the repatriated teachers, he said it would be decided on the basis of their date of birth as they all were transferred from various districts and posted in the non-panel high schools here.

Counselling of these teachers began at the Collectorate on Friday. He said that 109 non-locals appointed between 1994 and 1998 and 14 between 2000 and 2004 would be relieved shortly from here to report at Srikakulam.

Move decried

The UPA Government’s move to bring in a legislation in Parliament to privatise pension of employees was condemned by leaders of Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers.

In a release, JAC chairman V. Rajagopal said that the government had already effected contributory PF to employees who were appointed after January 1, 2004. The Centre had now asked the Sixth Pay Commission to find ways and means for adopting similar yardstick to those who joined prior to January 2004.

Further, he said that it had decided to divert 5 per cent of the pension fund to stock market though such a move was illegal.

Hence, the Joint Action Committee, prior to going on a token strike on October 30, had decided to create awareness among employees on the issue, he said and appealed to employees to attend a meeting at NGOs Home here on October 14.
