AIADMK to stage demonstration

CHENNAI: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will organise a demonstration before the Memorial Hall here on Monday to protest against what it called abnormal increase in prices of construction materials.

In a statement here on Sunday, party’s general secretary Jayalalithaa said owing to steep increase in the prices of cement, sand, iron rods and bricks, construction activities in the State had come to a standstill leaving thousands of construction workers jobless. Condemning the “Government’s failure” to control the prices, the party would organise the demonstration which would be led by trade union leaders, the statement said. — Special Correspondent
