Helpful: Kotoro Uchiyama of Paramount Beds demonstrating the functioning of the bed in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. VISAKHAPATNAM: Addressing a gathering at the launch of the new model of Paramount Bed, the Marketing Director of Paramount Bed Kotoro Uchiyama at Lazarus hospital on Sunday said that the bed was not only comfortable but also prevented bed sores, pneumonia and severe injuries. Executive Vice-Chairman Lazarus Hospitals Ltd. Varma Vagesna said that the quality of a hospital’s infrastructure was as important as its doctors. Among its other user-friendly features, the bed could be operated through a remote control by the patient himself to lend the required angle for sitting or reclining. The bed came coupled with a newly developed bottom with the help of which the patient could raise back and knees, without placing any stress on the body. A board stopper could be used to prevent the head or foot from coming off when the bed was moved. Problem-freeThe hospital had been using Paramount beds for last four years but they had not faced any maintenance problems so far. The Bed’s patient friendly features unlike many other hospital beds made it very useful. It had many attractive features that made it highly comfortable. It had a floor mattress, which acted as a shock absorber and the sideboard that ensured safety while getting off the bed. If lift did not work for some reason, the mattress could be wrapped around the patient’s body and he or she could be taken through the stairs without causing him any injury. There was no need to transfer the patient to the stretcher while shifting him to any place as it had wheels, he added. The bed is available in three models. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
